Otodus obliquus was originally known by the name of Lamna oblique and it was one of the earliest forms of mackerel sharks. Mackerel Shark is referred to a specific kind of a shark that has a specific kind of body shape (like the fish - "Mackerel") and a unique lifestyle (it lives in the open water). The largest predatory shark that has ever known to be lived on the planet is the Megalodon and it is also known to be considered the descendants of the Otodus obliquus.   Otodus obliquus, previously known as Lamna obliqua, is quite popular among research scientists and shark experts. It is fair to say that this ancestral species is a celebrity equivalent of Pierce Brosnan. Although this extinct species of mackerel shark is nowhere near the biggest shark (C. Megalodon), the Otodus is still bigger than any modern carnivorous shark. Once a heavy contender among the predator sharks, most shark biologists and scientists look for  otodus teeth for sale .
