A Brief About Anzu Wyliei Raptor, A Chicken From Hell


Nicknamed as Chicken From Hell, Anzu Wyliei is a featured dinosaur, considered to be as tall as a human. This species, dated 66 million years back, has hen crest on its head, sharp claws, legs like an ostrich, and stong jaws for savoring prey. The first glimpse of this dinosaurs unraveled after looking at fossilized bones collected from three separate dinosaurs.
Where was this feathered dinosaur discovered?
The fossilized skeletons of Anzu were unweathered from the Hell Creek Formation, approximately 66 million years old rocks, in North and South Dakota. The same geologic site is known as the zone of fossils of other dinosaurs such as Triceratops, and Tyrannosaurus rex.



When did Anzu Wyliei live on Earth?
The rocks under which the fossilized skeletons were preserved date back to 66 million years. This means Anzu Wyliei roamed on Earth during the Cretaceous period. This is the same time when Triceratops and T.rex were prominent.
How did Anzu Wyliei look like?
The fossilized skeleton and claws of Anzu Wyliei indicate this dinosaur was roughly 5 feet tall at the hip and 11 feet long overall. The long tail indicates this large bird did not fly but only had feathers on arms and tail. The beak was toothless and it had a tall hen crest on the skull. The neck was long and hind legs were similar to those of an ostrich but much stronger. Unlike birds, the forelimbs of Chicken from Hell had sharp long claws.
